It’s one thing to smell questionable after a workout. You can shower up, put on deodorant, and carry on with your day.
But if you smell questionable at a business dinner, or an awards celebration …
FORGET ABOUT IT.
Your first impressions won’t be as crisp, your interactions won’t be as enjoyable, and you may be on the outside looking in (quite literally!).
Smelling like nothing at all may be just as bad as a questionable smell, though.
It’s not enough to just avoid smelling bad or do the bare minimum by slapping on deodorant.
Gents, there’s a WORLD of colognes out there designed to enhance your smell, your confidence, and your interactions with others. Just a little cologne can go a LONG way in your popularity at dinner parties and in your performance at work.
My friend, Jeremy Fragrance, is a renowned expert in fragrance. Whether you’re looking to try a new cologne or purchase an elegant perfume for your wife, check out his YouTube channel to learn more about all things fragrance.
Jeremy and I have joined forces for this video, where we get into the subject of blind buying cologne. In the fragrance world, ‘blind buying' means buying a cologne before you've tested it on your skin – which is usually a big mistake, since cologne smells different on everyone.
In today's video you’ll learn about 3 fragrances you CAN safely blind buy.
And in today’s article, you’ll read about 5 situations where blind buying is the way to go for your fragrance needs.

Okay gents, let’s get right into it – the 5 times you SHOULD blind buy your cologne of choice.
Situation #1 – You’re New To The Cologne Game
I call this the “Pandora’s Box” factor.
With so many different types of notes and accords, the fragrance world can seem pretty daunting at first.
For those of you new to fragrance – notes are essentially the ingredients that make up the fragrance, and the accord is a balanced blend of several notes that creates the fragrance’s odor impression.
If you’re new to the cologne game, you simply don’t know what you don’t know. And that’s okay.
Instead of spending a ton of time trying on dozens of colognes and figuring out which one to wear and when to wear it, you can blind buy several small bottles of cologne to use over the next several months.
As you become more acquainted with these colognes, you can get a better sense of how they work for you and how others respond to your cologne of choice. And if you need more cologne samples to try out for a few weeks at a time, just blind buy a couple additional small bottles and work on building up your familiarity with cologne. Over time, you’ll be able to identify the notes you gravitate towards, which will help inform later fragrance purchases.
Situation #2 – Fragrance Experts Give You The Most Smell For Your Buck
I call this the “Authority” factor.
If you’re not very familiar with fragrances and don’t want to spend an excessive amount of time in selecting what cologne might work for you, you can defer to a fragrance expert and follow his/her sound advice.
This way, you’ll save time, select a great fragrance, and learn more about fragrances, over time, as you seek out an expert’s recommendations.
Jeremy Fragrance, as you can tell by his name alone, is a true authority in the field of fragrance. If you’re interested in expert advice for your next choice of cologne, listen to Jeremy’s latest insights here.
With an expert’s advice in your back pocket, you can be confident in your cologne selection without the hassle of experimenting with an endless number of cologne samples.
Situation #3 – You’re Not Able To Try The Cologne Before Purchase
I call this the “Convenience” factor.
If you live in a geographic area where you don’t have access to an adequate cologne selection, you’ll have to resort to blind buying over the Internet.
But that’s okay!
Sometimes you can acquire free online samples for your experimentation.
And if not, you can rely on your favorite notes to order a few cologne options that match your particular tastes. For instance, some people prefer a muskier cologne, whereas others prefer a more citrusy cologne.

If you haven’t reached the level of identifying your favorite notes – don’t worry about that.
You can always order a few small bottles online, familiarize yourself with different fragrance notes and accords, and develop a better sense of the cologne types you want to purchase online.
Situation #4 – You’re In The Mood To Explore And “Spice Up” Your Cologne Collection
I call this the “Excitement” factor.
Most of us have favorite notes that we look out for when shopping for colognes.
There’s nothing wrong with relying on your favorite notes when selecting your fragrance.
However, there’s always room to expand your cologne comfort zone.
In fact, if you blind buy a few bottles of cologne with different notes and unfamiliar accords, you may come across a new scent that can give some flair to your next business outing or your upcoming date night.
There’s no harm in going outside your comfort zone to explore new cologne options. Blind buying is an effective, simple way to bring variety and excitement to your cologne game!
Note – if you end up selecting a larger cologne bottle that’s not a good fit for you, don’t worry! If you know which types of cologne are easy to resell, you can make the most out of your experimentation process by reselling your least preferred colognes.
Situation #5 – You Know EXACTLY What You Want
I call this the “Experience” factor.
If you’re experienced with fragrances, you’ve developed a keen sense of what you like.
Consequently, you can use your experience and preferences to successfully blind buy any type of cologne that matches your personal style and your preferred notes. With your experience, you can better gauge how your notes blend with other notes, as well as what bottle size most suits your fragrance needs.
When you familiarize yourself with notes and accords, you can confidently blind buy a wide array of colognes.
