Trouser Break

Trouser Break (n.)

A term for the length of trouser fabric that falls on the shoe.

A full break will have the trouser break on top of the shoe heel. A quarter break will have the trousers tailored so that they gently touch the topline of the shoes.

A half break will have a less prominent fold than the full break but the trousers will rest between the topline of the shoes and the shoe heel.

Most American tailors will suggest a half break.
