Lapel

Lapel (n., adj.)

Folded and pressed flaps of cloth on the fronts of jackets and coats.

The lapels form at the collar and go along the edges of each side of the garment until the buttons.

The style of the lapels vary but the three main styles are: notched, peaked and shawl each with slight variations depending on the garment and the fashion.
