I was speaking with a client the other day and we started talking about how many men, when you bring up the idea of how important appearances are, will take the high ground and say that looks are not important to them.
They’ll even expand on this and state how they try never to judge others, and on the occasions they do it’s based off character and actions.
Every time I hear this I smile and think of the below example.
Let me be clear – I consider a man’s inner character and strength to be infinitely more important than his appearance. However, to ignore the way appearances affect our initial judgment of others is to ignore human nature.
Study after study has shown that all of us want to be around healthy, strong, and vibrant people, whether they are male or female. As men we choose work partner who we guess will pull their own weight and in a mate we select a partner who we see as complementing our strengths.
Whether you’re looking for a mate, interviewing for a job, or standing in a busy restaurant looking for help – you are competing for people’s attention. Put your body in the best light, and you’ll give yourself a great starting point.
All-right – I’ll get off my soapbox.
