Houndstooth

Houndstooth (n., adj.)

Also called “hound’s tooth” and “houndstooth check” is a type of weaving pattern made from weaving two threads over and two threads under the warp.

The pattern is similar to check pattern except that houndstooth is more abstract.

Traditionally a duotone weave (a dark and a light thread), houndstooth can be found with other shades as well.

Alabama football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant is synonymous with houndstooth because of his houndstooth cap he wore throughout his coaching career.
