Down Jacket

Down Jacket (n.)

A type of performance jacket that is insulated with the down feathers of ducks or geese.

The jacket is identifiable by pillow-like compartments on the outside of the jacket; these stitched compartments contain the down feathers.

Down jackets have very good insulating properties and are worn by those exposed to cold weather.

Down jackets are rarely made formal enough to be worn with business attire.
