Cufflinks (n.)
Accessory pieces of men’s jewelry that are designed to be worn with the French cuff dress shirts only.
The style, material and shape of the cufflinks vary greatly but the mechanics are the same: fasten the two sides of the dress shirt cuff.
The prototypical cufflink has a large rounded head and a shaft with a small pivoting piece of metal which is put through the buttonhole and pivoted parallel to the head thus securing the cufflink.
