Men spend good money on a quality product, and then don't take care of them. Being a mid-western citizen my whole life, leather care is especially important not only for shoes/boots and accessories, but also for tack & saddles for horses. Naturally, riding saddles have a noticeable price tag, so taking care of them is a priority. I asked around to see what people were using on their leather to not only maintain the leather, but make it look great. Most people recommended the brand Lexol. I have since used Lexol exclusively, and find the product works so much better than it's low price would suggest. I guess my long winded reply is to simply point out that there are great products at all levels of pricing that will make your leather investments last so much longer than people realize.
